Assessment, retained services and isolation
A commercial strip-out starts with knowing what is being removed and what must remain. We review available drawings, circuit information and previous records, then assess the relevant installation and discuss the proposed layout with you.
Shared circuits, occupied areas, communications equipment and supplies serving other parts of the building need consideration before work begins. We agree isolation arrangements and the sequence of work around access and the wider programme.
Not every installation needs a complete rip-out. Where equipment or wiring may be retained, we assess its suitability for the intended use and explain what needs replacement or further investigation.

Careful removal of existing electrical systems, with safe isolation, identification and agreed disposal arrangements.
What the strip-out can include
Redundant lights and wiring, sockets and local accessories, obsolete circuits, agreed distribution equipment, dado trunking, conduit, tray and redundant data cabling can be included. The exact removal scope is established before starting.
We consider which supplies serve retained areas and coordinate with other trades. Where existing drawings do not reflect the installation, findings and necessary changes are raised with your project team.
New containment & rewiring
New containment, cable routes and rewiring to suit your refurbished layout.
Containment and replacement circuits
Tray, basket, conduit and trunking can provide organised routes for the new installation. We consider access, ceiling and floor construction, power and data separation and the ability to maintain or extend the system.
Distribution and circuit arrangements are planned around the proposed equipment and loading. Additional circuits, submains and distribution changes can form part of the agreed electrical scope.
Lighting, power & data
Complete installation of lighting, power, data and agreed ancillary systems for modern working environments.
Plan the finished workspace
We coordinate floor sockets, floor boxes, dado trunking and equipment connections with furniture positions and the way your team uses the space. Suitable power track and specified clean earth arrangements can also be considered.
Lighting layouts can be issued with calculated lux levels appropriate to the intended use and design assumptions. Staff comfort, glare and fitting positions matter alongside energy use. Emergency lighting is considered separately within the agreed scope.
Data routes and outlet positions are coordinated with your IT provider. Our standard data service includes functional checks, rather than formal cable-performance certification.
Inspection, testing & handover
Appropriate inspection, testing, certification and a clear handover for your records and ongoing maintenance.
Completion information
The completed electrical work is inspected and tested, with the appropriate certification for the work carried out. Relevant circuit identification, schedules, product information and agreed operating instructions support the handover.
We clarify any retained areas or work outside our scope so your team has an accurate record of what has been completed.
Refurbishing an occupied building?
We plan agreed shutdowns, work in phases and retain essential supplies where possible. Our team keeps you informed and coordinates the work around your operations.
Working around trading and office hours
We discuss the areas that need to remain occupied, the equipment that cannot be interrupted without preparation and how staff will move around the premises. This allows us to plan access, work areas and isolations with your team.
Outside-office-hours work can be arranged subject to availability. Timing is agreed around the installation and your operating needs; it is not a blanket promise that every refurbishment can be completed without any disruption.

How we plan for your business’s future
Before deciding the layout, we ask about staffing, equipment, working patterns and likely changes to the building. This helps us identify practical options for future expansion: accessible containment, sensible spare space, flexible outlets and lighting that suits a changing workspace.
We explain the costs and limitations of these options. Spare ways in a distribution board do not automatically provide spare electrical supply capacity; both the internal installation and incoming supply need consideration. Future-proofing is planned around your needs, rather than adding equipment without a purpose.

Does everything need to be removed?
No. We assess the proposed refurbishment and discuss which parts of the installation may be retained. Suitability, condition, loading and the new layout all affect that decision.
Can the building remain occupied?
Often the work can be phased, subject to the building and scope. Access, essential supplies and shutdowns need planning. Out-of-hours work is available by arrangement and subject to availability.
Can CRS install all the replacement systems?
We can deliver the agreed replacement electrical scope, including containment, distribution, lighting, power and data cabling. Any specialist interfaces or services are defined with the relevant parties before quotation.
What information should we send?
