Understand the condition of your installation

A commercial EICR helps you understand the condition of the fixed electrical installation within the agreed inspection scope. We plan access and testing around the premises and explain the findings and recommended next steps.

An Electrical Installation Condition Report records the findings of an inspection and testing of the fixed electrical installation within an agreed extent.

It reflects the condition observed at the time. Its usefulness depends on access, the agreed scope and any recorded limitations.

What we can do for your premises.

Agreeing the inspection

We discuss the premises, available records, circuit information and operational restrictions before quoting. The size and complexity of the installation affect the work required.

Limitations and inaccessible areas are recorded rather than treated as inspected.

What the work covers

The agreed scope can include distribution equipment, fixed wiring, sockets, lighting circuits and relevant protective arrangements, including earthing and bonding.

Portable appliance testing, fire alarm testing and emergency lighting testing are separate services unless specifically included.

Planning shutdowns

Testing may require isolation. We coordinate with your team around IT equipment, refrigeration and other essential services.

Out-of-hours work can be arranged subject to availability and suitable access.

Understanding the report

  • C1: danger present; immediate action is required.
  • C2: potentially dangerous; urgent remedial action is required.
  • C3: improvement recommended.
  • FI: further investigation required without delay.

A report containing C1, C2 or FI observations is unsatisfactory. C3 observations alone do not make the overall report unsatisfactory.

Remedial work

We can explain findings and quote for appropriate remedial work. Completed repairs are supported by relevant records or certification alongside the original report.

An existing report from another contractor can be reviewed for a quotation, with site verification where needed.

Inspection intervals

The next inspection recommendation depends on the installation, use, condition and applicable requirements. There is no single interval suitable for every commercial building.

Existing and older premises

Age alone does not determine whether an installation is satisfactory. The inspection considers condition and safety within the agreed scope.

Preparing your premises for the visit

Previous reports, circuit schedules, details of distribution boards and information about sensitive equipment help with planning. Tell us about IT systems, refrigeration and areas where access or isolation will need special arrangements. Restrictions may affect the extent of the inspection and are recorded.

Working through the findings

We explain the observations and can provide a separate quotation for remedial work. Where repairs are completed, appropriate records or certification support the original report. Further investigation findings must be resolved through the necessary assessment rather than assumed to be minor defects.

Frequently asked questions.

Does an older installation automatically fail?

No. Age alone does not determine the outcome. The inspection considers condition and safety within its agreed extent and limitations.

Can you quote for repairs listed in another contractor’s EICR?

Yes. We can review the report and discuss a quotation, subject to necessary site verification and clarification of the findings.

Is emergency lighting included in an EICR?

Emergency lighting has its own testing requirements. It is a separate service unless specifically included in the agreed work.
